Meeting Dia Frampton and Meg & Dia

The Journey started 6 years ago…
When my fiancé and I first started hanging out (we were only friend’s back then). We went out to catch a movie. I was sitting in the passenger seat, and felt really uncomfortable. I was sitting on a cd with two girls in front of it. I couldn’t make out who they are, but all I can read was “Something Real”. So I asked my “friend” who they are. His answer was “I saw this album at target and thought the girls were cute so I bought it, and they turned out to sound really good”.  I went online and searched who these girls are. It turned out to be “Meg & Dia”.  With our Bad luck, we seemed to miss every single time they had a show here in Illinois or in the Chicagoland area for that matter. Since the night of accidentally sitting on their CD, and six years later, my fiancé and I still listen to the band.
Now the”Dia” from the Meg & Dia band is also known for being in the Singing competition called “The Voice”. Long story short, Dia and the band was back.
It all started on February first, when I saw a Tweet about a “Dia Frampton” concert here in Chicago. I got too excited and didn’t care and bought tickets for my Fiancé and I. I immediately asked my sister if she can be our babysitter for that night.  She said yes!
The night finally arrived!! We took the blue line down to the city. (It’s more convenient that way due to parking) On our way to the venue, My fiancé out of nowhere started shaking me out of excitement and screams…”THAT’S FUCKING CARLO!” and if you are a Meg & Dia Band you know who he is. If not, LOOK IT UP! Moving on… We waited in line in the bitter cold for about 10 minutes, not too bad I should say. When we got inside the venue, it ended up being a free standing (you can do anything you want) kind of venue. I still didn’t mind it.
We choose to stay at the balcony overlooking the stage and the crow, we thought we were slick by staying upstairs and we were able to watch the entire thing. We realize it was a mistake. (that’s another story for later in this post). The opening act started. He was pretty good. A guy with his guitar, Nothing new. He was Andrew Allen http://www.myspace.com/andrewallenlive I must say. He was pretty good!
Then here comes the main event. The first guy on stage was Nick Price on the Drums, the Jonathan Snyder on the Bass and then the crowd got even louder when Carlo Gimenez steps out. My fiancé and I swore we would scream “WE LOVE YOU CARLO!”, but someone beat us to it. A couple seconds later, Dia was on stage. I started wondering where Meg went. Dia started her set with “Don’t Kick The Chair”. The single with Kid Cudi ( He wasn’t there!). Halfway into the song, that’s when I saw Meg walking to the center of the stage. I finally figured out that from where we are standing. We couldn’t see where Meg’s station was. We still saw her when she had some occasional dancing in the center of the stage. Another highlight of the night when Dia said that she was part of the band, and they sang a song called “BANDIT” from the latest Meg & Dia album.

This was such an amazing experience! It wasn’t like your typical concert, it became a huge “hangout” for Dia’s Fans and her band :)
